A critical yet underexplored factor affecting engagement in care is inter-facility mobility, with up to two-thirds of people living with HIV transferring care between health facilities at least once. We aim to evaluate the scale of inter-facility mobility in the Western Cape and the mechanisms of its impact on care engagement.
Key Features:
- Analyze linked, individual-level, routine clinical data of people living with HIV receiving antiretroviral therapy in the Western Cape
- Identify the causal mechanisms and contextual elements of care related to inter-facility mobility using a realist evaluation
- Co-design intervention prototype(s) and/or systems adaptions to support long-term, sustained engagement with HIV care
