ON-THE-MOVE
Advancing equitable, collaborative research to support sustained care for mobile people living with HIV
Who we are
ON THE MOVE is an inclusive capacity-strengthening programme developing an equitable research ecosystem around a project working to support sustained engagement with care for mobile people living with HIV in the Western Cape, South Africa.
ON THE MOVE is led by the University of Cape Town, in partnership with the University of Oxford, the University of Washington, local South African health services, and wider networks.

Our Work
ON THE MOVE explores mobility among people living with HIV, its impact on care engagement and treatment outcomes, and implications for service delivery in the Western Cape, South Africa. This research has been co-developed and will be implemented in partnership with the City of Cape Town Health Department and the Western Cape Provincial Health Data Centre.
Equitable Collaboration
We believe that meaningful progress in global health requires investment in the research ecosystem to ensure partnerships are equitable, research questions are locally-driven, and early career researchers have the knowledge, skills, and support to lead impactful future work.
ON THE MOVE builds on the foundations of our mobility research, leveraging existing stakeholder relationships and international collaborations to deliver a targeted, capacity-strengthening programme focused on early career researchers and a broader network of researchers, policymakers, healthcare providers, and patients in South Africa.
